Abri du Vent
When the winds blow from east to west and from north to south, they slip along the Abri du Vent (Shelter from the wind) due to its original construction: this shelter is a hexagon. As for all the cabins and shelters, it took numerous weeks of hard labour to deliver the wooden logs to this building site. It was quite a challenge….and what a success! The location of this shelter is pure magic as it offers an aerial view of the magnificent Lake Windigo. It is open to all daily visitors, but the good news is that you can also spend the night.
In order to do this, don’t forget to make an advance reservation to obtain a key which will allow you access to the second floor. And sweet dreams! As this cabin is open to all hikers, it must be vacated by 10 am, but by this time you will probably already be on the trails! It’s possible to leave your baggage in the baggage box next to the cabin simply by using the padlock from your bed. This shelter is located 6.5 km hiking or snowshoeing from P2 and 7 km by Nordic skiing.
