PETIT REFUGE
This route will allow you to admire the fauna and flora.
Starting point: Village des Bâtisseurs (P2)
Level: Beginner to intermediate
Length: 7 km
Elevation: negligible
Outward trails: 3a – 2b to the small refuge (petit refuge)
Return trails: 2b – 3a1
LES RUISSAUX (by the brooks)
For an intermediate-level excursion, opt for the path leading to Des Ruisseaux Hut. This loop is 11.8 km long and winds through the middle of the mountain in the heart of a lush forest also called EFE (Exceptional Forest Ecosystem). You will be able to admire the old forest of the Montagne du Diable and all the maple trees and yellow birches that are more than 150 years old. This forest is exceptional because it has never been affected by severe natural disasters such as forest fires or violent winds, which could have destroyed its dominant cover. Also, it has been very little affected by human activities, which is very rare in Québec’s forests. Today, this forest is one of the few ancient forests in the Mont-Laurier region.

Paroi de l’Aube (viewpoint)
This route for seasoned hikers takes you on a path dotted with huge glacial rocks. Your efforts will be rewarded when you reach the top of Paroi de l’Aube – alt. 740 m, the view is splendid with a panoramic view of the village of Ferme-Neuve. A breathtakingly beautiful route where you can discover one of the legends of Windigo.

This circuit will give you two completely different overnight experiences, with one night in the forest and the second night with a magnificent view of the Baskatong Reservoir and Lake Windigo.

You can opt for our baggage transportation service. Enjoy the montagne du Diable without having to carry your gear on your back. With this service, in addition to transporting drinking water, we’ll heat up the woodstove so that by the time you arrive at the cabin, you’ll have a warm welcome. Ascend, admire, contemplate, and leave everything else to us.
